antiretroviral therapy effective at reducing HIV resistance in mothers
and babies following mother-to-child transmission

Adding two other antiretroviral drugs to single dose nevirapine -- an
antiretroviral drug given to women and newborn children during labor
and delivery to prevent transmission -- is effective in reducing the
drug resistance that nevirapine causes when used by itself.

  Cochrane review of pegylated interferon plus ribavirin for hepatitis C treatment in people with HIV

Pegylated interferon plus ribavirin is an appropriate standard of care
for HIV-HCV coinfected patients, with sustained virological response
rates of 26% for hepatitis C virus genotypes 1 or 4 and 57% for
genotyes 2 or 3.

  Swedish HIVIS prime-boost vaccine shows promising results in Tanzania trial

An experimental vaccine combining an HIV DNA plasmid primer and a
modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) booster induced CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell
responses in most recipients in a Phase 2 trial in Sweden, researchers
reported at the AIDS Vaccine 2009 conference last week in Paris.
